CANAAN TOWN BOARD MEETING
June 02nd, 2010

Supervisor Richard Keaveney opened the meeting at 7:00 p.m. Supervisor Keaveney read the Public Notice: Please take notice that the Canaan Town Board will hold a Special Meeting at the Canaan Town Hall, 1647 County Route 5, Canaan, New York 12029, at 7:00 p.m. on June 2, 2010 regarding the Highway sand/salt shed. A short informational presentation by the engineer will be followed by a Public Hearing.

AUDIENCE: 1

Supervisor Richard Keaveney explained that phase 1, of the Sand/Salt shed project would consist of the foundation pad. Supervisor Keaveney introduced Mr. Dan Wheeler of D.F. Wheeler Engineers, P.C. Mr. Brian Schutz, P.E. gave a slide presentation showing the options for the project. Supervisor Richard Keaveney, “Thanked” Brian.

Supervisor Keaveney said that a resolution will be presented at the Town Board monthly meeting on June 14, 2010 to release the $250,000.00, plus interest, from the Canaan Salt Storage Facility Reserve Fund. This fund was established by a mandatory referendum and resolution #39 of March, 2006. The new resolution is subject to a permissive referendum, a notice will be published informing the town residents. This notice will allow 30 days for a petition to be filed, with the town clerk, and challenge the release of said funds. If a petition is filed a mandatory referendum will be held within sixty days. The Board of Elections will verify presented signatures on any petition.
There will be other Public Hearings held.

ADJOURNMENT: Councilperson Brenda Adams made a motion, seconded by Councilperson Carrie Bither, to adjourn the meeting at 8:00 p.m.
