MinutesZBA

Minutes of meeting held August 25, 2009

Present: John Stelling, Sandy Haakonsen, Bill Wallace, Pat Liddle, Ann Pearce
Absent: David Cooper

Acting Chairman Stelling called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m. with two people in the audience, one of whom was Steven Berninger representing the Queechy Lake Association. The agenda consisted of the matter of appeal 2009-4, Teresa and Alan O’Brient.

Motion by Bill Wallace with 2nd by Ann Pearce to accept the minutes as presented. All in favor.

Mr. Stelling stated that normally the ZBA functions like a well oiled machine but this time we seem to have had a little misfire and didn’t get the public notice into the newspaper, so we cannot hold the public hearing for appeal 2009-4. Our only order of business will be to schedule a special meeting to conduct this hearing. In order to have the required time to notify abutters and publish the notice in the newspaper, our considered date would be September 15th. Because there is a primary for several parties that night, we would meet in the downstairs assessor/zoning officer room. Motion by Ann Pearce with 2nd by Bill Wallace that we set the next meeting date for Tuesday September 15th at 7 p.m. to conduct the hearing for file 2009-4, Teresa and Alan O’Brient. Discussion: Pat Liddle would be out of town and unable to attend. We would try to make amends to the appellant for our misstep by notifying the abutters of this new hearing date. Would there still be a regular meeting on September 29th? Maybe so, depending on file submissions. Vote: All in favor.

Motion by John Stelling to have the board notify the abutters because it would not be fair to make the appellant incur the additional expense of postage because of our misstep. 2nd by Pat Liddle. All in favor.

There being nothing more to come before the board, motion by Bill Wallace with 2nd by Ann Pearce to adjourn. All in favor. Adjourned at 7:10.

For the board,

Julie Alexander, Clerk
