Many applications must be filled out using NY State carbon forms available from the Town Clerk's office. Other applications can be made in person without a form. The remaining applications and forms will be available via this Web site in PDF format. Some are available now, and some will be added soon. Transfer station stickers:

• Residential permit: no form required. Bring drivers' license or proof of residence in Canaan, plus license plate number of vehicle for which you are requesting a Transfer Station sticker, to Town Clerk's office.
  
  
• Maintenance permit (for construction debris, etc.): download form for printout, then submit to Town Clerk's office, or get form from Town Clerk.

• Hunting and Fishing Licenses: apply in person to the Town Clerk. Bring valid NY State drivers' license and proof of hunter-safety certification, or, if renewing, previous license from 1981 or later.
  
  
• Dog License: apply via form available from the Town Clerk, before dog is 4 months old. Bring proof of current rabies vaccination.

• Building permit application (submit to Zoning Enforcement Officer)

• Application to appear before the Zoning Board of Appeals (submit to Town Clerk's office)

• Complaint form for zoning violations (submit to Zoning Enforcement Officer)
