SPECIAL NOTICE: The bridge on County Route 5 which spans Stony Kill between State Route 295 and the Town Hall will be replaced this year by Columbia County DPW. County Route 5 at this location will be closed to thru traffic starting on Monday June 9th. Detour signs will be posted.

The Highway Department has a staff that includes the Superintendent, four crew members and a clerk. The Department is responsible for the maintenance and safety of approximately fifty miles of Town roads including related infrastructure repairs and snow removal. The annual operating budget of the Highway Department is approximately $725 thousand or 60% of the Town's annual operating budget. The highway budget covers personnel, materials, and equipment costs plus an annual contribution to a capital fund for large equipment purchases.
