What is Canaan's Strategic Plan? In December of 2002 the Town of Canaan received a $23,000 grant from the Governor's Office for Small Cities to prepare a strategic plan for the town. The plan will serve as a tool to guide the town government in making consistent decisions regarding land use and economic development in Canaan. The process was organised around a written survey mailed to all residents and property owners, and, a series of community meetings designed to solicit information and community preferences on a wide range of issues. Goals of the plan include community consensus regarding projects for future development and providing an information framework for town government to resolve specific situations in the context of overall goals.
The latest draft of the Strategic Plan is available in PDF for download.
